name: Kili Cadence (Keenan) Caywood residence: Crocker Park, South Carolina former residence(s): Knoxville & Chicago age & dob: 20; December 27th, 1989 occupation: Student, retail worker relationship status: married to Jacob Caywood ex(s): Jared Justice children: Carlie (4) & Mason (1)
Kili Cadence Caywood (Nee Keenan) was born December 27th, 1989 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Karen Chandler and Matthew Keenan. Kili was the first child to the young couple and the whole reasoning why the two became married. Her mother was a fresh-faced youth right out of high school, attending the University of Tennessee-Knoxville where she was pursuing a Pre K – 12 Licensure Certificate in Educational. She had hopes and dreams of becoming an elementary teacher; at the time all you needed was a licensure certificate. Her father was a construction worker who hardly had a day of work and when he did he often called off for the sheer purpose of making Kili and her mother’s lives a living hell. The family often moved around and tried to run from the bills that her father had wracked up. Shortly after the birth of Kili’s baby sister Madison, Matthew up and abandoned the family, luckily Karen had landed a great position and had a secret bank account that Matthew had no clue about, she and her daughters only struggled during the holiday’s. Only being six years old Kili didn’t quite understand why her mom stayed up at night, crying and looking through old photos, she only understood that mommy was sad and daddy was gone.
When Kili was eight years old, her parent’s finally filed and finalized their divorce, her mom began seeing other men, which was confusing to the young girl and her baby sister. At the age of 12, Kili’s mother re-married. The man was fond of the girls and had treated their mother like gold for a while before he began to get a little too friendly for their liking, resulting in her mother going through yet another divorce. Kili always felt like it was her fault for telling her mother what was going on. Kili began acting out a bit, not as much as some of her peers but she did dabble in a drinking as well as spending a lot of time sneaking in and out of her bedroom window to meet up with her friends late at night.
At 15 years of age, Kili had a major life changing occurrence come into play. She had been ‘seeing’ a man by the name of Jared Justice; he had been a long time family friend and schoolmate of the young girl. He was 4 years older than the girl and one of those ‘bad boy’ types that she had been warned about her entire life. She never exactly willingly took the next step with the man; she wanted to wait until she at least got on birth control. One night while drinking and having a blast, the rest of their friends had fallen asleep and she was left alone with the man that she adored, he didn’t take no for an answer, claiming that he thought she was just messing with him. She never once thought that the man that she trusted would have taken advantage of her the way he had. From that act, young Kili became a mother.
Being a young girl in a town that thrived on gossip, Kili hid her pregnancy from everyone including her mother. She didn’t let her mother that she was somewhat close to know until she was well into the second trimester, bordering on the cusp of the third. The two of them came up with a plan for Kili to be close to her child and still be able to finish school and become a success in life. Karen took custody of the baby girl that Kili gave birth to, claiming that she had no idea that she was pregnant but that young Caroline “Carlie” Keenan was the most beautiful ‘surprise’ that she could ever ask for. Some believed the lie and over time Kili even began to believe the lie. She became accustomed to saying that the little girl was her sister out of fear that the townsfolk would call her out as a whore and make her feel even worse than she did. In the back of the girls mind, she still harbored thoughts that her mother didn’t even believe that the girl was conceived the way she had. After Carlie was born, Kili and Karen began to butt heads over the way the little girl was being raised as well as many other issues.
Shortly after Kili’s 18th birthday, she took off out of town after completing courses early at Ridgedale Alternative School. Having dreams of getting away and becoming something she randomly picked a place while looking at her choices at the local Greyhound station. She came to Haven with only a few things in some suitcases and a few dollars in her pockets. She stayed at a run down motel for a little while, until she was able to save up enough money for a small apartment. Her first few days in the town she was befriended by a young woman who gave her hope as well as some money to get a bigger place and to possibly go to college so she could follow through with her plans to bring her little sister to Haven to get away from her mom’s new love interest, that seemed to be worse than any of the others that she had met.
After she settled in a little she met a man by the name of Jacob Caywood, he was a simple man that found joy in the strangest things. He used to pick at Kili in attempt to get her attention, evidently calling her by the same name as a fruit one her heart. Soon the two began dating. Though numerous people and plans tried to get between the two of them, they managed to bounce back from it all and remain in love with one another. She even told him the truth about Carlie being her daughter instead of her sister. That little fact at first was thought to be the wedge to drive the two of them apart for good but it ended up becoming the thing that tied them together even stronger.
On July 4th, 2008 Kili and Jacob became man and wife. It was a quick wedding with much speculation behind their reasoning of pushing the wedding so quickly. The ceremony was beautiful and brought together much more than just their love, their families and friends. Jacob also took on the responsibility of being Carlie’s father, after finding and pleading with the biological father of Carlie
